Trauma Healing 2025 – Advanced Equipping Session
Sower Institute for Biblical Discipleship, in partnership with Trauma Healing Institute (THI), aims to provide leadership and services to churches and organisations using God’s word to bring healing and restoration to trauma survivors.
THI’s trauma healing programme provides basic mental health concepts with a biblical framework, using Scripture passages and composite real-life stories to help traumatised people connect the teaching with their circumstances.
ABOUT THE SESSION
This session, the second of two seminars, continues the equipping process for facilitators in Bible-based Trauma Healing using the book Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help and its associated programme model.
This proven approach uses applied Scripture and some of the best mental health principles to address spiritual and emotional wounds caused by trauma of war, ethnic conflicts, natural disasters, car accidents, abuse, and similar events. The book has been translated and taught in over 100 countries with more than 194 language groups in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This advanced session hones the skills acquired at the initial session and during the practicum.
By the end of this session:
Trainees should be better able to solve programme issues arising in trauma healing as they carry out their ministries. They should also be able to understand the materials completely and clearly, and teach them in a participatory way. Participants who have the necessary competencies will be certified as training facilitators or healing group facilitators at the end of the advanced session.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Participants must have already attended an initial equipping session and co-led or led at least two healing groups (or equivalent activities) and submitted their reports.

About the Speaker(s)
Carol Lim
Carol has a passion to serve God through helping people with challenges lead a more meaningful life. Trained as a special needs educator and equipped with a Masters in Special Education, she has more than three decades of experience in Singapore and abroad.
Belinda Ng
Belinda Ng is a missionary with Serving In Mission (SIM) as the Member Care and MK Education Consultant for SIM East Asia. She is a Trauma Healing Master Facilitator certified by Trauma Healing Institute. She previously served in Niger with her late husband for 12 years.
Rev Shannon Chan
A former nurse turned pastor, Rev Chan was the Minister of Cell Groups at the International Baptist Church Singapore. An ordained Baptist Minister, she was former Associate Pastor of Leng Kwang Baptist Church. Thereafter, she re-discovered her Methodist roots and is now an Ordained Minister of The Methodist Church in Singapore. Rev Chan is currently serving as a Pastor at Faith Methodist Church (TRAC). She oversees the Care Pillar comprising Faith's Counselling/Cradle Ministries, Bereavement/Hospitalization Ministries, Member Care/Cancer Support Ministries, Faith Care Ministry, Homebound Ministry.
She is Gottman Method Couples Therapy trained to Level Three, as accredited by the Gottman Institute, US. She is also a Master Facilitator in Bible-based Trauma Healing, as certified by the Trauma Healing Institute, US. She is passionate about Christian Spiritual Formation, committed to solitude and silence, and daily Fitbit-ing.
Nancy Writebol
Nancy Writebol is a SIM Global Coordinator for Trauma Healing and a Healing Master Facilitator certified by Trauma Healing Institute. She is also ministering with Serving in Mission (SIM) in the US alongside her husband, David.
