For the first time in history, we have a generation of youth that do not know a world without the internet. As true digital natives, they are a unique generation unlike the ones before. We invite you to participate in a workshop that discusses the unique characteristics, talents, and challenges facing Generation Z youth (aged 12 to 27 years).

Explore the profound impact of technology and digital culture, along with the mental health challenges prevalent among Gen Z. Engage in discussions on the importance of career guidance and strategies for fostering resilience and emotional intelligence. Join us to gain insights and practical tools for supporting and empowering the next generation as they navigate the complexities of the modern world. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

● Understand the unique characteristics and traits of Gen Z youth, including their talents, values, preferences, and challenges
● Examine the mental health challenges faced by Gen Z
● Discuss the importance of career guidance in helping Gen Z navigate their future paths and make informed decisions
● Discuss effective ways to relate to and nurture Gen Z while helping them cope with their challenges

Mr Lim Cheng Yong

MPsy (Clinical Psychology)

Cheng Yong works as a clinical psychologist with a local hospital after serving as an educator in the local education system for the past 30 years and offering career counselling to Gen Z youth. In his clinical training, he worked with patients with anxiety, depression, and those coping with grief from loss, amongst other mental health conditions. His primary psychotherapy modalities are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Dr Loke Keng Choong

PhD (Applied Psychology), MA (Applied Psychology)

Keng Choong works as a counselling psychologist in a government ministry and works primarily with the Gen Z population. He has 20 years of counselling experience in various settings, including the social service and healthcare sectors. He is registered with the Singapore Association for Counselling as a registered counsellor, and the Singapore Psychological Society as a registered psychologist. In addition, he is a registered clinical supervisor with these two professional bodies.
